How to Take Shower With Eyelash Extensions

Eyelash extensions give you a fuller look to your eyes for a longer period, if you take care of your extensions properly. Myths and facts are abundant about after your extensions are done, which makes you iffy about how and when to take a shower. The answer is it depends on your adhesive glue used to stick false lashes to the pair of eyes.

Nowadays, adhesive glues have been improved a lot which dry up within 4 hours and let you take a shower after 4 hours like Sky Glue. The internet is flooded with articles saying that you should take a shower after 48 hours. It is true that adhesive glue took a lot of time to dry but Sky Glue is the best eyelash extension glue as it takes very less time to dry.

So eyelashes are done and now you are wondering how to take a shower? Can I get my lashes wet? Won’t my lashes fall? Which water to use: hot, tepid, or cold water? Let’s bust some myths.

Let’s answer the questions one by one. Keep reading.

1. Can I get my lashes wet?

Yes, you can. There is no harm in taking a shower once the glue’s curing period is completed. As the glue is waterproof, it won’t make your lashes fall prematurely. It will fall after your lashes grow naturally.

2. Say No to hot steamy showers

Water temperature is extremely important to maintain the longevity of eyelash extensions. Hot & Steamy water breaks the bond between lashes and glue, which makes it brittle. It is best to take a shower with a temperature between 99-105 degrees Fahrenheit. And remember, not to take sauna baths, steam baths, and tanning salons.

3. Do not Rub and scrub

Do not use a loofah or even your hands to clean the grime in your pair of eyes as you used to do. Scrubbing your eyes could be a danger with fake eyelashes. Rubbing and scrubbing will only lead to the falling of lashes prematurely.

4. Myth busted – Use Goggles while taking a shower

No, it is not necessary to take a shower with goggles once your curing period of the adhesive of 4 hours is completed. It’s a myth not to wet your lashes. It is recommended that cleaning eyelash extensions is a must to retain a healthy and clean lash line.

5. Deterge your lashes

Only rinsing the lashes with water is not enough to keep your lashes away from grime, dust, or oil. Use your makeup brush instead of your hands to clean up the lashes. Apply the lash cleanser on your brush and lather it up on the eyes. Or, you can cleanse your eyes in the sink to avoid the direct pressure from the shower.

6. How to dry your eyelashes?

Now, don’t take a towel and start scrubbing your eyes. No matter how soft your towel is, you can snag your extensions easily. It is better to pat dry your lashes with a soft towel. You can use a hand-held dry fan or blower to dry up the lashes. Mind you, if you are willing to use an air –dryer then change the setting to cool-air and don’t forget to keep the dryer inches away from your face.

7. Which soap is the best?

Avoid soap that is oil-based or creamy base as it would interfere with the adhesive glue of lashes. You can use a water-based face washing solution to maintain healthy lashes.

8. Swimming- an option or not?

You can bathe if you want on your terms. But, bathing in salt solution will make your lashes extensions fall out. It is better to avoid dipping your head underwater. If you accidentally dipped your head under the water, then cleanse it to remove the salt particles from your lashes.

In The End

Showering and cleaning are a must to do on a daily basis. Therefore, you can not avoid it just because of eyelash extensions. In addition, you can keep in mind the aforementioned tips to enjoy healthy eyelash extensions.
